3D Generalist & Animator

3D Generalist & Animator

About the Role

Requirements

WANE is a stylized, rogue-like turn-based combat game set in an anarcho-capitalist world where 80s aesthetics meet occult Gothic horror. We are looking for a talented 3D Generalist/Animator to help bring our "occult adventurers" and eldritch horrors to life as they delve into the massive dig site of Ravelle.

If you have a passion for highly stylized movement—think the weight and punch of Darkest Dungeon 2—and the technical skill to handle a character from rig to engine, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As a 3D Generalist/Animator, you will work closely with our 3D Artist to transform high-quality sculpts into game-ready assets. Your primary focus will be on character performance, ensuring every strike, spell, and stumble feels deliberate and atmospheric.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rigging: Create robust, animator-friendly rigs for custom character sculpts.

  • Stylized Animation: Keyframe high-polish, smooth, yet "snappy" animations that fit our 80s-Gothic aesthetic.

  • Asset Management: Retarget, clean up, and optimize purchased animation assets to match the game’s specific style.

  • Pipeline Collaboration: Work within a professional indie team to meet milestones and maintain clear communication.

Technical Requirements

  • Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge in industry-standard tools (Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max).

  • Technical Animation: Experience with retargeting workflows and motion data cleanup.

  • Stylization: A portfolio demonstrating an understanding of "weight," "timing," and "silhouette" in stylized character animation (Non-Photorealistic Rendering/NPR experience is a plus).

  • Professionalism: Ability to manage your own schedule, hit deadlines, and iterate based on creative feedback.

Project & Contract Details

  • Setting: A unique "80s Occult Gothic" universe featuring Mr. Wayne’s descent into the eldritch ruins of Ravelle.

  • Flexibility: We are open to Freelance, Part-Time, or Full-Time arrangements depending on candidate fit.

  • Remote: This is a remote position.

How to Apply

Please send a message including:

  1. A link to your Portfolio/Reel (Highlighting stylized character work).

  2. Your preferred working arrangement (Freelance/PT/FT).

About the Company

Metis Creative started off as an idea from a few nerdy friends from Istanbul, Turkey. We are now a Tabletop Gaming Studio with content creators and operations that is, truly global. Although our HQ is still in Istanbul, our team is all over the world!
